DASHBOARD CONFESSIONAL!!!
I was lucky enough to go to their show on October 4, 2002 with 6 of my friends. As an early b-day present, my parents rented a limo to take us to and from the concert. Let me just say...WOW! They performed stuff from Places You Have Come to Fear the Most, and Swiss Army Romance, as well as some new material, and used the entire So Impossible EP as their encore. After "Screaming Infidelities", Chris said "Thank you all for coming out here to support us tonight. All of you that just came to hear that song can leave now, but thanks again for coming." I had to laugh at that. Unfortunately, cameras weren't allowed inside and we didn't get to meet the band, but allow me to describe what Chris looked like. He is hotter in person than in pictures or on TV! He was wearing jeans, a red t-shirt, and a black dress shirt over it...he looked great. We (me, Kelly, Christine, Sarah, Amanda, Derek, and Fielding) managed to get within 7 feet of the stage...I was 7 friggin feet away from Chris Carrabba! At a few points throughout the show, Chris would stop singing, walk over to the edge of the stage and just look into the audience and listen. (By the way, if you've heard that Dashboard Confessional concerts are awesome because everyone in the audience is singing along as loudly as Chris is and that he thrives off of their energy...it's true.) One time he was looking in our general direction so I put my hands over my head and he looked back to where we were...at least I think he did, and I'm gonna say he did so that I may continue living in my little bubble of happiness. Chris threw 3 guitar picks into the audience and the drummer threw 2 drumsticks after he broke them. The last pick that Chris threw was at the end of the show and went soaring straight to where our group had been standing before we got closer to the stage. That kinda ticked me off, but hey, at least I got closer to him. And ya know...no one found that last guitar pick. Hmmm...interesting. Well, that's all for now. I might mention more random stuff as I come up with it. ;)

So you couldn't go... If you want to hear one of their unreleased songs go to www.dashboardconfessional.com and download it. It's in the music section and is called "Tonight I'll Take What I Can Get". Chris introduced it by saying, "This song isn't the direction that we're taking our new album, but we're gonna let you hear it anyway. It's about three of my favorite things...foolin' around, drinkin', and gambling." Heh...enjoy!

"The Group": Christine, Derek, Amanda, Kelly, Me, Fielding, and Sarah

We're straight chillin'! Poor Kelly had to take the pic...but she's cool, too.

We got a flat tire on the way to the concert. It delayed us a little (we got to the show at 9:10 and it started at 8, but that isn't only cuz of the tire), but it was fun. Kelly and Sarah were holding up the Just Married magnets trying to get truckers to honk. It's funny though...Derek got more of a reaction when he bent over to help the guys change the tire...
